From Rio to Detroit, the recession has resulted in a lot of fabulous skyscrapers being left as scraps. Many of these buildings are gorgeous, sterling examples of architecture from long ago now inhabited by nothing but ghosts.

Cats in Costumes
Animal cruelty is really a matter of personal opinion, particularly when it comes to dressing cats. If you’re a PETA member, you’ll want to view this gallery to fill yourself with rage before going to fight for animal rights. If you’re a sane person, on the other hand, you’ll want to look at the pictures and giggle at the cuteness.
The Destruction Of Detroit
I find Detroit to be one of the most fascinating places in the States. It was a huge, rich city and is now like a third-world country right here in our own states. The Times has a fantastic photo gallery of Detroit buildings in decline. They are beautiful, and throughly depressing. I highly recomend you check them out.
The Internet Is Growing Up
T-Shirt Hell, makers of such brilliantly offensive and satirical shirts as “Arrest Black Babies Before They Become Criminals,” is retiring their site, and it’s making me quite sad. Sure, I never actually bought their shirts -they were insanely over priced, but they were a glory hole of free speech on the internet. The net as we know it will be a little more boring and a little less offensive…for about five minutes, until someone fills the gaping hole they left.
Funny enough, I know where the guy is coming from, it’s fun to be crazy and offensive to the general public, until you start to grow up. Then it’s not so fun. Still, I wish they passed along the tourch and sold the store.
Sad But Interesting
Yesbutnobutyes has an ineresting piece about an elephant that is hung for killing a man. It’s rather depressing, but it is interesting and the video of an elephant painting at the end will certainly help lift your spirits again.
Bye Bye Baby
One of the best sites on the internet, Pandora.com is likely going to be shut down soon. Consumerist has the scoop. Music fans around the nation should be upset today. They had one of the best new music recomendation engines ever created and royalties are crushing them. Tears.
Lion Loves His People
I know it’s been circulating a while, but thanks to my company’s wonderful habit of blocking YouTube, I only now got to watch this video.
And tears welled up. If you haven’t seen the story of Christian the Lion, then watch and enjoy!
All these news stories lately are making me a sucker for bear stories. First the bear and kitty friends, now this. Ram Singh Munda, a resident of India, saved this little bear when it was abandoned in the forest. The bear, named Rani or “queen,” became friends with his daughter who was recovering from the death of her mother and is now like a member of the family.
Unfortunately, rather than trying to do what’s best for all involved, the Indian government just arrested Munda, sent the bear to the zoo and his daughter to boarding school. Now the little bear isn’t eating. The whole thing just isn’t right. I do agree that he shouldn’t be raising a bear at his house, but he shouldn’t go to jail and the bear’s hunger strike is dangerous. Booo Indian government! Booo!
Seriously, how cute is that little bear on the bike? He looks like he’s smiling.
